woozi's vocal range woozi is a countertenor! this means that he is able to hit notes ranging from a low tenor to middle soprano notes. with this range, he is able to hit a variety of notes that assist with background vocals in tracks and ad-libs, harmonies & whistle notes!
woozi's vocal colour because woozi is able to hit a wide range of notes, his vocal colour and sound are quite unique, not only in the group, but in K-pop as a whole. as woozi's voice is naturally higher than some of the other members in seventeen, his voice is a good mix of airy and nasally, yet perfect for deeper songs and genres such as R&B and soul. his great stamina also assists him in portraying his vocal colour as it causes him to rarely waver during live performances.
what is a countertenor? a countertenor is a rare male singing voice where the range is considered to be extreme. unlike traditional vocalists that fall in typical ranges (ie; base, soprano, alto, etc), countertenors are known for utilizing different vocal techniques to hit specific notes. In trained countertenors such as woozi, he tends to utilize chest voice to reach his lower ranged notes and head voice/falsetto to hit those in the middle-soprano.
